IV Therapy Certification Workshop

The CVAS Intravenous Therapy Workshop is offered to Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses, Registered Nurses, and other qualified medical professionals for certification, or brush up on their existing skills. Non-licensed healthcare professionals are expected to have previous venipuncture skill and knowledge. Furthermore, non-licensed professionals wishing to attend this Workshop will be required to submit documentation verifying they are working under a physician’s license, before they will be permitted into this program. Additionally, all participants must be at least 18 years of age.

This Workshop is designed to teach the serious medical professional how to start, care and maintain, and discontinue a peripheral IV. This is not a central line course, nor a pharmaceutical IV course. The Workshop is held on either a Saturday or Sunday, and typically runs for approximately 9 hours. The day of the Workshop consists of 100% hands-on training, using manikins we specially designed for this program. The manikins simulate the human extremities, and provide a "blood return" to further assist the participants' understanding of the procedure.

As the field of basic intravenous therapy is vast, this Workshop has a home study module required of the participant outside of the clinical Workshop. This home study may be completed before or after the day of the program.

Upon successful completion of the IV Therapy Workshop, which includes the external home study, you will receive a national certification*.

*Excludes Mississippi and Colorado, at this time. Transferable into Ohio and Missouri.
